FlowOS · How does the business run?
Stop being the handoff between everything.
FlowOS is an operating layer in development across the tools your business already uses. The aim: routine work moves within agreed rules, while exceptions and important judgment reach the right human. Start with one workflow in the free Flow Audit.
You have AI. You’re still doing the joining up.
One tool drafts. Another stores the information. Someone needs the context again. You check the output, move it to the next place and remember to follow up.
Sound familiar?
We’re using AI, but it still feels fragmented.
I shouldn’t still be doing this manually.
A missing brief, unclear owner or unresolved exception can turn you into the connection between every tool. The design starts with shared context, clear workflows and a named person for decisions that need judgment.
Context → Workflows → Exceptions → Outcomes.
This architecture is the direction of FlowOS. Current availability and access boundaries are shown below.
Example: one client request moving through FlowOS
Stage 05 · Approval · A person
Stage 05 of 06: Approval.
Waiting for Sam, team lead.
Founder touches on this request: 0
Example times are illustrative. This runs in your browser.
The example follows a bottleneck the Flow Audit found in a test run with fictional business details: routine client updates that all wait for the founder’s approval.
How it works
Every workflow starts with four lines.
This is the ownership test from Noah’s essay The AI Demo Ends Before the Hard Part. FlowOS turns the four lines into the rules a workflow runs on. Here they are for the example above.
- The job ends when
- The client has an accurate update, in their format, from the right person.
- The system may decide
- What to gather, how to draft it and whether it passes the rules.
- A person must decide
- Anything that moves a date, adds cost or changes scope.
- The receipt is
- The sent message, who approved it and how long the client waited.
The parts
Context. Workflows. Exceptions. Outcomes.
- ContextWhat the work needs
- Keep the brief, source information, ownership and boundaries available with the work. Connections depend on the tools supported in each scope.
- WorkflowsHow routine work moves
- Define a trigger, steps, required approvals and what done means. Connect humans, AI and existing tools around that job.
- ExceptionsWhere judgment belongs
- Design monitoring and escalation to make missing information, failed steps and out-of-scope decisions visible to a named human.
- OutcomesWhat to review
- Check completion evidence, unresolved exceptions and founder involvement against a baseline. Use what happened to improve the workflow.
